The currency is the Canadian dollar (CAD $). It is divided into 100 units (cents). Most major credit cards are widely accepted in Canada and automated banking machines can be found in most regional centres. For current conversion rates visit www.xe.com.
Tipping and Taxes
Various sales taxes throughout Canada can be as high as 15%, although the GST (goods and service tax) can be refunded upon leaving the country with proper documentation. Tipping is much the same as in the United States with 15 to 20% as an acceptable gratuity.
